Initially intended for widows, divorcees and single parents, the group soon expanded to cater to the needs of all women ; single, married unmarried, every colour, race, caste or creed, -to address the challenges they faced. The launch was facilitated by Mufti Ebrahim Desai, various legal personalities, counsellors, therapists, IT specialists etc.
Meetings were conducted bi-monthly at the Al-Ansaar hall and facilitated by various scholars, legal advisors, motivational speakers, counsellors, life coaches, and health and wellness experts. Skills training courses were offered either as a day class, 3-5 day or 3-6 month segments.
WHAT IS THE VISION OF THE MUSLIMAHS' SUPPORT GROUP? VISION: SPIRITUAL
EMPOWERMENT:
Many Muslimahs, after having experienced the trauma and challenges of being widowed or divorced, sometimes lose their Muslim identity which impacts directly on the way they raise their children, lifestyles, activities and outlook on life. We encourage them to remain focussed and strengthen their attachment to Allah SWT, by gentle, loving motivation, designing programmes and activities for them and their children through which their spirituality is intensified, as well as inviting guest speakers , creating inter-active workshops and sharing authentic resources and alternatives to western based philosophies and activities.
We strive to inculcate Allah SWT as the core focus in our lives first, as we traverse our difficult journeys in life, to conduct ourselves in a manner that is pleasing to Him, to be the best Muslimahs we possibly can and raise our children on Quraan and Sunnah, so that we may create a society of true ambassadors of Islam, Insha-Allah.
CREATING A SISTERHOOD:
We also aim to offer emotional support, motivation, counselling, legal advice etc. assisting sisters to the best of our ability, creating a sisterhood from which we may draw solace, comfort and inspiration. Online platforms are often used to encourage, advise or just give a listening ear to a sister in distress. Volunteers who are professionals or success story survivors, avail their time and expertise freely Alhamdulillah.
EMPOWERMENT:
For those sisters who wish or are in need, skills training classes are held to empower financially as well as encourage Muslimahs to earn their incomes first of all through halaal means, in a manner that is pleasing to Allah SWT from the comfort and protection of our homes as opposed to unnecessary exposure to the risks of the outside world. We do not promise financial assistance to anyone, however, in an absolutely dire situation, which has been thoroughly verified, we discreetly assist through anonymous donors / business people etc. for a limited period only.
Our aim is not that of a welfare organisation. Our objective is to EMPOWER on all levels. We have designed over 15 empowerment programmes Alhamdulillah, which are facilitated by professionals, as well as skilled single parents who have reached the stage of independence, and are now paying it forward. Where a paid tutor is required, we appeal to the public for tuition sponsorships. Through these programmes, women discover their intuitive skills and talents, are taught to enhance it, and then use it as a means of financial growth. They are guided as they strive to shift themselves from a position of dependence to independence Insha-Allah.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
