#Operation Making a Difference in Cairo

Introduction

Alhamdulilah, Allah Ta'ala blessed us with the opportunity to collaborate with Falaah Projects SA in June 2024. This partnership has enabled us to engage in various impactful initiatives aimed at supporting Palestinian refugees, single mothers and their children residing in Cairo.

June 2024

  • Hydrate & Help: We provided essential water supplies in the form of bottled water to Palestinian refugee families as well as continued our Quench the thirst of the seekers of knowledge student project in Cairo.
  • Kids&Teens4Palestine Friendship Card Project: We implemented our signature friendship card project to foster friendships, solidarity and support between children Alhamdulillah. An amount of R10300 was raised towards this, half of which was handed over to Madrasah Dawood.
  • Eid Programme Assistance: We assisted Falaah Projects SA with their Eid programme for children, contributing to their celebratory activities. An amount of R  was handed over.
  • Ibaadah Gifts: We allocated the first lot of R10,000 to Falaah Projects SA to purchase 100 Ibaadah gifts for Palestinian sisters in Cairo. The second phase of this project was launched at the Muslimahs Support Group.
  • Sister4Sister4Gaza Launch: We established a WhatsApp group to unite sisters globally in support of Palestinian refugees in Cairo. This initiative included various ongoing efforts, such as the Ibaadah gifts, Eid, water and other projects.
  • Preparations for the launch of the Muslimah Support Group for Palestinians in Cairo commenced, recognizing the need for broader support beyond immediate relief. The Muslimah Support Group was officially launched on the 10th of Ashura with objectives to provide spiritual, emotional, and financial empowerment to single mothers responsible for their households.
  • Vouchers: We initiated the voucher project to offer temporary aid while commencing training for these women. The vouchers are categorised and gifted accordingly. Despite our appeals for rental support, groceries, and essentials, full achievement was not met and we assisted the most dire cases with rentals according to what we received Alhamdulillah.
  • Home Visits: We established personal connections with Palestinian refugees in Cairo through home visits.
  • Madrasah in Cairo online alternatives for load shedding and power cut days was established Alhamdulillah together with online excursions and lessons based on current themes from historically significant venues in Cairo for Fee Suhbatil Quraan learners. Example: Aashura lesson from the River Nile.

Tap water in Cairo is unsafe for drinking due to contamination with pollutants and bacteria, posing significant health risks to anyone who consumes it. This issue is particularly concerning for vulnerable populations, including Palestinian refugees and students who depend on safe, clean water to maintain their health and focus on their studies.

Our "Quench the Thirst of Seekers of Knowledge" project specifically targets students in Cairo and Palestinian refugees. For these students, access to safe drinking water is often a daily challenge, impacting their ability to concentrate, study, and stay healthy. By providing clean, purified water, our project helps alleviate one of the most basic yet crucial needs, allowing students to stay hydrated and focus on their education without worrying about the dangers of contaminated water. This initiative not only supports their academic goals but also upholds their dignity, enabling them to continue seeking knowledge with a clear mind and a strong body, Insha-Allah.
