Mondays at Bridging the Gap are always about personal growth and development.
We commenced with an orientation session discussing the challenges learners are facing, the programme for the term ahead, as well as the upcoming Market Day. Alhamdulillah we received funding for start up capital for 4 students and this will be given to the ones who have met all the deadlines and submitted their product research and samples timeously.
Tuesdays and Thursdays are reserved for Muallimah Development and this week they were tasked with preparing activities to teach children Al Isra Wal Miraj or Love for salaah.
Part of the Learning Quraan through play segment was to recreate the Arabic Alphabet letter box game from cardboard boxes, thus upcycling.
Masha'Allah and well done to Yasmeen Linje, our top achiever for term 1 in the Bridging the Gap programme.
Yasmeen clocked top of her class with 1230 points over 7 weeks.
Students are graded according to punctuality, attendance, task completion, team building, out of the box thinking and entrepreneurship. She wins herself the second IT Varsity bursary valued at R25000.
Student of the term at Bridging the Gap
It's been another jam-packed term at Bridging the Gap with our students engaging in various training programmes, projects and activities.
From the Ramadaan and Eid Extravaganza, to the Love for Al Aqsa challenge, Muallimah Development, The Muslimah Nanny, personal growth and development, Battle of the Bottles training, entrepreneurship, health and wellness, and much more, our students have been super busy.
As is customary, at the end of each semester, we select a student of the term and award her with a well deserved prize.
The selection is based on daily records of various criteria : punctuality, attendance, dedication, commitment, completion of tasks, creativity, out of the box thinking, team support, communication, following instructions and general respect and Akhlaaq.
We are extremely pleased to announce that the student of the term is Safiyya Bodhania.
We are super proud of you Safiyya and your prize of a laptop is well earned and deserved Masha'Allah.
Stay focused and as humble as you are, you're off to great places for sure...
Jazakallah Khair to @sanzafjhb and other well-wishers for funding this programme.
Yesterday was an exceptionally productive day for our Bridging the Gap students Alhamdulillah.
We were graciously treated to an awesome workshop titled "The Hats we wear", facilitated by Aunty Zarina Mia, (Com- Unique) which encompassed so many different concepts Alhamdulillah.
From spirituality, to self esteem, core characters, authenticity, unity in diversity, being unique, respect and tolerance, team building, leadership skills, following instructions, living our purpose, bringing spirituality into entrepreneurship and so much more, our students were positively delighted and needed this interactive session after 5 weeks of hard work.
Jazakillah Khair to Aunty Zarina for sharing your valuable time and expertise with us.
Sister 4 Sister"🌸 at Bridging the Gap
Alhamdulillah each training session at the Muallimah Development Academy commences with a sisterhood session, which aims to foster, encourage and grow camaraderie and a strong sisterhood between the students.
In term 1 they were given an opportunity to share challenges as well as positive moments with myself and their peers, and together we found solutions for these. Sometimes all they need is a listening ear and a different perspective.
Yesterday we introduced the "Sister 4 Sister" Support, which still gives the students an opportunity to discuss their challenges and achievements, but extends to peer support.
The students identify a friend who is struggling this week, list her challenges and each decides what she is capable of offering her friend. As the course facilitator, I provide the external resources that they require where possible and it's now time to hand over the baton and develop their empathy and support skills, together with setting boundaries.
Sometimes, the student will say all she can offer for now is duaa, and this is perfectly acceptable. With a gentle nudge and a little probing, she eventually realises that she still has the capacity to offer a little more.
The students also have an opportunity to acknowledge the peers that went out of their way to lend a hand, build the team spirit etc and this is added as additional points to the progress records which determine the Student of the Term.
May Allah SWT envelope them in His Guidance, Protection, Mawaddah and Rahmah and help them reach their potentials beyond their expectations with Aafiyah Ameen.
Not only will they qualify as muallimaat impacting generations to come, but they will have their own businesses, together with skills in 7 different fields Insha-Allah.
Jazakallah Khair to @sanzafjhb for funding this programme and Mind First for facilitating our personal growth & development sessions Alhamdulillah.
